Jane Eyre analysis
Jane Eyre is one of the few works of foreign literature I have ever read. When I first read this novel, I was attracted by the twists and turns of the plot. I thought of it as a romance novel and was indignant when the heroine was told on her wedding day that her husband was married.
However, reading this novel now, I can see more from the novel is the heroine's perseverance and resistance spirit behind the twists and turns of life.
Jane Eyre, the heroine, grew up in a poor family. Shortly after she was born, both her parents died. It was a huge shock for her when she was just born. After that, she was placed in foster care with her uncle. Her aunt had always disliked her, regarded her as a thorn in her side, and treated her differently from her own children. It was under such unfair circumstances that she lived for ten years.
Within ten years, she had suffered untold amounts of abuse and torture. However, aunt's contempt and cousin's bullying did not destroy Jane Eyre. On the contrary, Jane Eyre put up with all this around her. The experiences of the past decade have made her more resilient and toughened her will. It's that tenacity that makes her special.
It seems to me that her aunt's abuse did not break Jane Eyre, but did a great deal to shape her character. What doesn't kill her will make her stronger.
After this, her aunt fought her fiercely, and finally sent her to Lowood Orphanage. Though her life would be better from now on, only to find that the orphanage is another living hell.
She was tortured both physically and mentally at the orphanage. For one thing, she can't get enough to eat and sleep here. On the other hand, the headmaster here is a hypocrite who will do anything for fame and fortune. Jane Eyre's aunt told the headmaster that Jane Eyre was a bad boy who lied.
The headmaster did not find Jane Eyre was a good boy through his own eyes, but libel Jane Eyre, told the class of students Jane Eyre is a liar. It was a blow to Jane Eyre's pride. But Jane Eyre still did not fight the headmaster. She wept silently to herself. After crying, she still used her indomitable will to fight everything around. Fortunately, she met her good friend Helen in this orphanage, only Helen could understand her. But it didn't last long. Helen got tuberculosis and died.
This childhood experience, in the eyes of ordinary people, is very tragic. But it was a fortune to Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre's character is like a spring, the bigger the blow, the higher the bounce. Through the dark days of life, there will be bright days. And all the life trough and suffering, have become the accumulation of a happy life later.
In Jane Eyre's life, although she is poor, her personality will never allow others to trample. She will fight, she will find her own way to preserve her dignity. It also has a lot to do with the environment in which she lives. Her childhood lacked equality and respect, so she struggled to maintain her inner balance and dignity.
