The Old Man and the Sea tells the story of a man who struggles with his arduous destiny. In this story, the old man is a fisherman. The fate of this fisherman is unfortunate, he is still alone when he is old, and he has to drag his old body to fight against the cruelty of nature. And all this is his fate. In the book, the old man struggled to catch a big fish. We may feel that his fortunes seem to be improving at this moment. But by the end of the story, the big fish he painstakingly caught was eaten by the shark with only a huge skeleton. The old man returned to a state of nothingness. By the next morning, he must also go to sea again to accept the challenge of fate again for his own survival. The novel praises the spirit of the old fisherman who is not afraid of hardships and dangers and struggles; people should not be satisfied with the status quo but should be positive, persevere in everything they do, face difficulties head-on, and absolutely not give up halfway; only in this way can we achieve success and victory. Hemingway was a survivor of two world wars, and his story is no less than the old man 's. In World War I, during the battle against the Austrian army, he was unfortunately hit by mortar and was hit by a total of 227 pieces of shrapnel, but Hemingway survived by his tenacious willpower.
