The book The Adventure Of the Mysterious Picture shows a man's horrible experience that he had suffered when he live in a strange room. In the room, there is a creepy picture which depicts a man's suffering face, and it is really freaking that the man in the picture seemed staring straightly at the person who saw it, no matter in which directions. In the book, my favorite sentences are two: one is that, "if I must suffer this strange and dismal influence, it were better face a single foe, than this be haunted by a thousand images of it." This sentence has shown vividly that the power of imagination is so powerful that even it can break someone. Compared to the real things that can be really terrifying, things in imagine can be even more terrifying. Another sentence I favor a lot is "whoever has been in such a state of nervous agitation must know that the longer it continues, the more uncontrollable it grows." It only tells the power of imagination, but also tells the process it grows. But something that disappointing me is that this story doesn't have a end. So the secret of the picture can only imagine by our own.
