Death--the Most Precious Gift

范文心

This is a short and imaginative story. A fairy gave the man chances to choose his gifts and the man chose pleasure, and then love, fame, wealth but not death. At first, I feel confused: why should such a young man  choose death? And why the fairy thought death is the most precious gift?

Certainly, we can't deny that the first four gifts are really good and most people want them. But no one will get happiness with only one of them and nobody can avoid the damage they bring. That is the reason why the man always regreted. Then you will ask: can death bring happiness to us? To some extent, that is true. The fairy gave it to a baby that meant death is a kind of right--you have the right to die. This right teaches us to cherish the gifts we have and thus we will feel happy just for simple life. Sadly, the man missed the gift. He had to endure the pain of old and never get away.

Death is such precious gift which teach us to cherish what we have.
