Hypocritical Politics

 Mark Twain reveals the wicked truth under the mask of democracy  of  American politics without preservation.  

To tell the truth,  so called American democracy is just a game only joint by wealth and power, where there is no room for representative for the impoverished.

     At the very beginning, "I" am a hopeful candidate with "good character"—so good that "I" doubt if it is comfortable for me to be frequently connected to the other two candidates who "has been familiar with all manner with shameful crimes ". To "my" surprise, however, before the run start, mendacious  and fabrication news reports come out one after another to ruin "my" fame. The reports are so ridiculous that even "I" am shocked and confused. But "I" am soon drowned by the reports,there are too many to clarify and "I" am even attacked by people who believe the media! "I" give up eventually, tired of being slandered and attacked.

    Mr.Twain attempts to expound to us that politics can turn a innocent man into a murky one. In his time, America had just eliminated slavery by the civil war. Capitalists were completely empowered to control the nation. Fight between parties became more and more fierce in order to win the "democratic election". But as a matter of fact, this was just a mask. Mr.Twain`s writing is both literal and ironical. His article sharply reveals the wicked and dark substance of politics in America.
