An ironical story

In this story,the man chose from fame, love,pleasure,riches and death.It seems obvious that these are valuable gifts except the death.But after four miserable experiences,the author tries to convey that maybe the death instead of possessing one of valuable gifts would be a better choice and maybe it will be better for us to live a more normal but peaceful life.The death,or the wanton insult of old age,the man had no choice but to live painfully.But we may still have the chance to choose the best choices for us,thus,we should gain a better understanding of life and make our own choices carefully.
