The ending is out of surprise

In the start of my reading, I thought that love must be the valuable. However, love had been showed up in chapter 3. And the amazing thing is that the death is valuable. I am confused. Why death is valuable? From my perspective, maybe for an old man, death is a release. However, for youth, death does not the right thing for them. Maybe the author thought that all the thing in the world is fake, so only death is real. But how negative of him. Though there are many bad thing between human, we should be hopeful for our life. There are still good person in the world.
