The Scarlet Letter was really an impressive work.The plot were attractive and full of twists.While as it was written at a long time before,there were many words that were a little difficult to comprehend for temporal English learners.But the interesting of the book covered the obscure of language. Mistress Prynne and Mr.Dimmesdale were both sinned.While as the different gender and position, they suffered the pain in different ways.Hester Prynne expose her guilt on her chest,Mr. Dimmesdale covered his hand on his chest because his guilt was branded in his heart.But they had the same outperformed guilt,little Pearl. Hester Prynne was a great women for she kept the secret till the last moment even the clergyman dead,a great mother for she brought up little Pearl well,a sincere believer for even she was guilty and was deprived of the right to go to the church,she still did those thongs in her teach to help others to relieve her sin.As she had betrayed his husband to have affairs with another person.She should be sentenced to death according the law at that time.Considering that she had delivered a child,she was punished to stand at the scaffold for several hours and wear that scarlet letter A which symbolized “Adultry”permanently.She suffered the hatred and disgusting glimpse of her neighbors and other citizens.That’s the God decided to punish her in this way.Because she had pulled Mr.Dimmesdale down from such a sacred position that she must atoned for her sin until death;she would never escape,both God and Satan would not permit. Mr.Dimmesdale,as a clergyman had an affair with a married woman ,this kind of act was seen as a blasphemy of the holy God.So the majesty of God punished him to sacrifice himself.He was a clergyman who was supported by so many people had his own conscience.He knew that he was sinful.The more he prayed for other person, the more guilty he felt himself.But for he loved his work and was willing to finished the work the God had given him,he punished himself physically.At last, the God gave him redemption.He confessed his sin on public in a relevant vague way.God pardoned his reserve.After he died,people still considered him a saint. What on earth was little Pearl?She was sin-born but the child of the prince of the Air,an envoy sent by the God.She was full of the beauty of nature and had the gift to distinguish what is good or bad.She always kept away from those bad things.Representing the sin of her parents,she reminded them to remember their guilty and tell their sin publicly.When she found that her mother discarded the scarlet letter A and planned to escape with the clergyman,she was irritated and stayed away from them.She disgusted the kiss of Mr.Dimmesdale;when the clergyman exclaimed his sin along with her mother and her herself at the scaffold and was dying,she kissed his lips.She forgave him on behalf of the God consequently.After she had finished the duty, she started a new life. Mr.Chillingworth,we could know from his name that he was a frightening and horrible person.After he found that his wife betrayed him,he spent his after life to revenge.He had some abilities that normal person didn’t possess,like piercing people’s deep heart.That originated from Satan.He was just like a puppeteer who supervised and controlled the lives of Hester Prynne and Mr.Dimmesdale,and totally knew what they would to to get rid of him.He was such a evil person that he died a year after Mr.Dimmesdale’s death for losing the target to revenge. The witch Mistress knew almost all the things.She might also be an envoy of God.She did no harm to anyone but witnessed the happening of the whole process and told the truth to save those guilty people.She was thought must be mad.She was the most sober one actually. The Black Man must be Satan.Once he found anyone was guilty,he would summon his soul to sign on his book and then sent a demon to destroy the person mentally.Mr.Chillingworth was such a demon called by Satan to torture Mr.Dimesdale.He helped the clergyman physically but nibbled his brittle spirit little by little. The story was like a contest between God and Satan.But God won at last. The story spread the concept that every one was equal guilty,even the saint will pray until death let alone ordinary person.Meanwhile,they must be careful in case of being deceived by Satan as to destroy themselves.
