伯德家的苔丝
朱李
Mr. Lu Xun said, "Tragedy destroys the valuable things in life for
people to see". The causes of Tess's tragic fate are multiple, and
she was the victim of social moral standards at that time. Tess's life
is full of thorns, but it is not difficult to see the inevitability in
the seemingly accidental development plot. Tess's death is inseparable
from social change, conservative moral concepts, hypocritical religion,
family misfortune, Alec's sin, Clay's hypocrisy and the weakness of her
own character, and even more inseparable from the author's own pessimism
complex. Although Tess is heading for the abyss of her own death, she
will always be a great woman, just as the author said, a "pure woman."
