Little Women is a semi-autobiographical novel by Louisa May Alcott. During the American Civil War, Mr. March goes away with the army, leaving his wife and four daughters to live a simple, warm, hopeful and energetic life in spite of their poverty. The four girls are very different in character, with their own ideals and destinies. In the face of temptation, desire, fear and even life and death, Mrs. March always stands by her daughters tenderly and guides them to make their own choices. The trials and tribulations of life and love eventually make them grow up to be kind, independent, optimistic, confident and shining young women.

This book shows us the power of women in many guises, each in their own way, each with the power to pursue love and freedom. The eldest daughter is beautiful, she likes expensive things but falls in love with a poor boy, for love she can hold down her vanity, she longs for a home of her own, to work and struggle with the people she loves; the second daughter Jo has the most personality, she wants to become a writer, she appreciates the thoughts, talents, ambitions and souls of her sisters, she is doubly upset that women are born to love others, she and all She, like all of us in this era, struggles with the paradox of pursuing self and enduring loneliness, growing in self-doubt and self determination. The third daughter, Beth, is a talented musician, not looking for honorable status, kind and strong, kindness and charity; the youngest daughter, Amy, is very talented in painting and once followed her aunt to Europe to choose a rich boy as a marriage partner, but finally gave up the pursuit of the rich boy and chose to be with the person she loved. All four girls reaped their own happiness, although it was not the world's definition of "happiness". In the past, and still today, people generally believe that the world of women is only love, and that women are only fit to love, then get married and have children. The little women tell us that there is no path in the world that girls must take or should take, and that for love and marriage, it must be a choice that girls willingly make for love, that marriage is not a necessity of life, it is only a gift of life, that girls have the right to choose love and freedom, that we are happy to pursue freedom and happy to live independently.

In addition, the book has a soul, that is, Mrs. March, she is very wise and feminine, despite the poverty of her family, in each face of life difficulties, Mrs. March can always give the girls the most real, the most positive, the most optimistic advice, good guidance and physical action, to promote such a group of independent, brave, fearless, dare to break the world of small women like her. Mrs. March and the four girls show us what an independent woman who is ambitious in her career, confident in her love, and honest with herself about life looks like, inspiring generations of girls to grow up to be little women without losing their wisdom and confidence.
