Wuthering Heights
奇奇
After reading Wuthering Heights, I feel a lot. In this novel, all the
author's efforts are concentrated in the portrayal of Heathcliff, where
she places all her indignation, sympathy and ideals. This abandoned
child who was deprived of the warmth of the world has shaped a clear
character of love and hate in real life. Hindley's whip let him taste
the cruelty of life, but also learned to resist, no longer swallow the
arrogance in submission, he decided to change the fate of humiliation,
she chose to resist. Catherine had been very close to him, and their
love blossomed in sincere conversation. However, due to Catherine's
vanity, she married an Egard Linton whom she did not know at all, or
even knew. Her love affair with Heathcliff had come to an end. How can
this man who dares to love and hate stop? He set out for revenge,
destroying the two families and destroying his own lifelong happiness.
The beginning of all the evil comes from Catherine's vanity, ignorance
and foolishness, but the result is the death of her own young love and
life, but also destroyed Heathcliff's life happiness. Catherine's death
made Heathcliff's hatred reach the top. When he finally destroyed
Hindley and Egard and dominated the property of the two families, he did
not feel a trace of joy in his heart, because Catherine, whom he loved
with his life, had died, and that was all they had. ! Heathcliff
committed suicide, and his death was a kind of martyrdom, a proof of my
good nature, only because the cruel reality had distorted his nature and
forced him to be cruel and heartless. This revival of human nature is a
spiritual sublimation, flashing the author's humanist ideal. Wuthering
Heights has always been regarded as one of the "strangest
novels" in the history of English literature, and it is a strange
book. It is contrary to the universal sentimentality of the works of the
same period, but with a almost deformed beauty interpretation of this
violent emotion, with shocking power. Heathcliff's love tragedy is the
tragedy of society, but also the tragedy of The Times. The author
watches this tragedy as Emily, the servant of Wuthering Heights. She
prevented, she persuaded, but still unable to change such a fact, which
also proves that people are helpless in many times, clearly foresee the
outcome but can not change. Reading the whole book, the tangled emotions
and intricate relationships also reflect the author's understanding of
this sick society. What exactly is normal? This is food for thought.
