Atter reading this story, little Carrie leaves her familyand hometown to
find her sister in Chicago, searching for a job that would be suitable
for her.InChicago, the work is extremely difficult. Despitemerely
needing to use the space for five cents afterpaying the accommodation
fee, she finds itappealing in the major city's red
light, greenery, andluxurious lifestyle. It is universally acknowledged
that this storydescribes the United States at the end of the
19thcentury. Carrie is similar to a host of migrant girlswho move out of
their hometown in contemporaryChinese society. Despite the discrepancy,
Carrie'sabilities may be significantly superior and she isblessed with
good luck, and her outcome is just asstunning as the movie itself. Just
like the sentence inthe first chapter, when a good boy leaves home atthe
age of 18, there are merely two outcomes: eitherhe is saved by good
characters and becomes better, otherwise he quickly accepts the
metropolitan moralstandards and becomes worse. I don't think it's
herfault and fantasy for the big city, but also full of fearfor the
unknown future. Dreiser's characters, for the most part, struggle
withdesires and social constraints. He maintained thatman was distinct
from animals due to his free will, but he was incapable of distancing
himself from theanimal essence. Therefore, in the face of temptation,on
the one hand, characters are driven by animal
