The Book Review
"It has become a universally recognized truth that any rich bachelor always wants to marry a wife. Such a bachelor, every time he moves to a new place, the neighbors are completely unaware of his temperament and opinions, but since such a truth has long been ingrained in the minds of the people, they always regard him as a property that one of their daughters deserves. With such a passage as the beginning of the book, one can't help but think that this will be a pure comedy, telling a love story that everyone is happy about. But if you read it with such an idea, then this "Pride and Prejudice" will not have such a long life.
The vulgar and rude manners of Elizabeth's mother and sisters hindered Elizabeth and Darcy's love, and Darcy urged Mr. Bingley to leave Jane, even though Jane still had a deep affection for Bentley, but Bingley left Jane and went to London. Elizabeth's prejudice against Darcy and Darcy's arrogance are both stumbling blocks in this relationship, and after a series of interesting twists and turns, the misunderstanding is finally cleared up. Darcy overcame arrogance, Elizabeth overcame prejudice, and lovers were married!
"Pride and Prejudice" This is a romantic and realistic love. Love loses its beauty without romance, but the novel is full of all kinds of considerations about the right person and wealth and marriage.
Practical people have always taken money as their creed, money above them as their Bible, and they did not hesitate to gamble on the happiness of life. This is the only way to be rational and sober. Sadly, money has become a sign of status, rich = educated = status = noble character = having all the conditions to be a husband.
In this book, Elizabeth has always been written as a positive character, she is sensible, lively, playful, and good at looking at people and seeing through their minds. There are often opinions and opinions expressed by her in the book, and the author uses her to express her intentions and opinions, but on the surface she seems to be a loyal follower of love, until she finally finds true love. But if you think about it, Elizabeth can't escape the vicious circle of money marriage. The turning point in Elizabeth's change of attitude towards Darcy was that after she saw Darcy's vast estate, the title of Mistress of Pemberley was inevitably a temptation. As Elizabeth said, she was the daughter of a gentleman and Darcy was a gentleman, and they were in the same class. And her marriage to Darcy was not accepted by Darcy's relatives and friends, just because Darcy could have found a wife who was much richer than her.
Such marital tragedies were common in those days. The root cause is simple – the low status of women. In this book, the role of women in society is obvious, and even rich wives and ladies play the role of housewives. Such a marriage is a tragedy, and the cruel reality that you have to face after marriage is inevitable. Charlotte tries her best to play a housewife while always missing her beloved former lover, and Wayham and Lydia's relationship between husband and wife is in name only.........
Life is cruel, and the price of having money is the loss of more precious things, such as youth, love, happiness, joy....
In Pride and Prejudice, Austin also writes about the marriages of several of Elizabeth's sisters and girlfriends, which are foils to contrast with the heroine's ideal marriage. For example, Charlotte and Collins lived a comfortable material life after marriage, but there was no love between them, and this kind of marriage was actually a social tragedy hidden under a gorgeous coat.
On the road to pursuing love, you must be firm in your beliefs, don't make hasty decisions because of money, fame or other reasons, and insist on finding true love. If there are some shortcomings of the other party that you can't tolerate and can't change, you should decisively choose to give up; Of course, you should also cherish each other, don't change your decisions because of some words from others, and manage your own happiness!
