book review
o.o
"Tess of the D'Urbervilles" is a work that I have recently
read, and it has brought great shock to my heart. This novel is a
masterpiece of Thomas Hardy, which deeply reveals the conflict between
social morality and personal fate through the fate of Tess, a rural
girl, and gives me a deeper understanding of the world. Tess, a
beautiful, pure, and kind rural girl, was gradually pushed to a dead end
due to the merciless teasing of fate. Her story deeply saddens and
sympathizes me. Tess's beauty is pure and natural, not in her
appearance, but in her inner purity and elegance. This has made me
deeply understand that beauty is not just about appearance, but also
about inner richness and purity. Tess's tragic fate is closely related
to her dual personality. On the one hand, she dares to resist
traditional morality and hypocritical religion, showing a strong and
brave side; On the other hand, she cannot completely break free from the
constraints of traditional morality, feeling pressure and powerless in
the face of secular public opinion. This inner conflict made her hover
between resistance and compromise, ultimately leading to her tragic
ending. Tess's life is the best interpretation of love and sacrifice.
Her love for Claire was so deep and firm, but Claire's lack of
understanding and hesitation about Tess's past shattered her heart.
Although Claire later realized her mistake, Tess had already reached the
end of her fate. Tess sought revenge for love, but ultimately ended up
in a tragic ending, which left me deeply questioning the power of love.
Overall, "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" is a work that reveals
the darkness of society and praises true love. It made me deeply realize
the impact of social morality on personal destiny, as well as the
powerlessness and contradiction of individuals in resisting social
morality. Although Tess's ending was tragic, her resilience, courage,
and selfless love gave me a deeper understanding and insight into life.
In Tess, I saw the power of love and sacrifice, as well as the ruthless
devouring of individuals by social morality. This is a work that makes
me painful and happy. I deeply feel Tess's tragedy, but at the same
time, I am also moved by her bravery and selflessness. This novel has
given me a deeper understanding and comprehension of life. I will
cherish these insights and face future challenges with a more mature and
rational attitude.
