“The
Spirit of the Chinese” is a profound and thought-provoking work
written by Mr. Ku Hung-ming. Through a unique perspective and profound
cultural heritage, the book shows readers the vastness of Chinese
culture and the spirit of the Chinese people. The book can be roughly
divided into two parts, the first three chapters mainly contrast China
and the West in three aspects: Chinese spirit, Chinese women's status
and Chinese language, in order to expound what the spirit of the
Chinese people is. The last four chapters are mainly centered on the
remarks of some sinologists and their refutation and criticism.
