Robinson Crusoe is a very popular adventure book written by an English
author named Daniel Defoe. It was published in 1719. The story is about
a man named Robinson Crusoe who gets stranded on a tropical island after
his ship sinks. He manages to build a small house and grow his own food,
so he doesn't need help from anyone else. After 23 years,he meets a
group of people who eat other people, and he saves one of their
prisoners, a young native person who he names Friday. Robinson and
Friday become good friends, and after four more years, they are finally
rescued and go back to England. The story of Robinson Crusoe was partly
inspired by the real-life adventures of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish
sailor from the 18th century who spent almost five years alone on a
deserted island. This book is well-known for its beautiful descriptions
and for showing how capable people can be when they are left alone in nature.
