During the northern Wei dynasty, there was a girl named Hua Mulan. She was good at horse-riding and archery. Furthermore, she learned martial arts from her father. During their lifetime, their country was faced with invasion from others, so the emperor claimed that each family should send a man to help defend for their home. Since Mulan’s father was the only male in her family and he was too old to take part in fighting, Milan decided to disguise herself as a man and join the army instead of her father. The defend war was lasting for many years but Mulan sticked to fight bravely. She did prominently and magnificently in the war even better than the other male soldiers. Ultimately, they won the battle, and the emperor wanted to reward her plenty of gold and an official position. But she refused them and just asked permission to return home and looked after her family. Finally, the emperor agreed. Mulan’s family was so delighted to see Mulan. What’s more, when Mulan took off her armor and put on her former clothes, her companions were so surprised that the brave and excellent soldier was exactly such a beautiful girl.

I had heard Hua Mulan’ story since I was young. The first time I was very attracted by her spirit. This time it still appealing to me. Mulan was a representative of independent , brilliant and brave girl, setting an excellent example for me. As a girl, I’d appreciate her filial piety for her family, also the brave to attend a cruel war. In our lifetime, the key to success sometimes is the bravery. It reminds me that I should be brave to chase some opportunities and possibilities. Thanks Hua Mulan, who always inspires people from ancient times to modern times.
