After reading "The Old Man and the Sea", I was filled with mixed emotions. The lonely figure of the old man Santiago on the vast expanse of the sea seemed to be a symbol of humanity's tenacious struggle against fate. His indomitable spirit was truly moving. Despite facing the powerful marlin and the successive attacks of sharks, setbacks and hardships time and again failed to defeat him.
