Thoughts after Reading "An Introduction to Chinese Culture"
Opening the book "An Introduction to Chinese Culture" is like
embarking on a cultural journey through time and space. This book is
like a magnificent and colorful painting scroll, vividly presenting the
profoundness and long history of Chinese culture in front of us.
Chinese culture, having been inherited and developed for thousands of
years, contains endless wisdom and charm. From ancient philosophical
thoughts to exquisite traditional arts, from unique folk customs to
great scientific and technological innovations, every aspect
demonstrates the unique temperament and creativity of the Chinese
nation. The elaboration of Chinese philosophical thoughts in the book
deeply touched me. Confucianism's benevolence, Taoism's non-action,
Mohism's universal love and non-aggression and other ideas not only
influenced people's behavioral norms and social order in ancient times
but also still hold significant value in today's society. Confucianism's
benevolence emphasizes the care and harmony among people, which has a
positive significance for building a harmonious society and promoting
harmonious interpersonal relationships. Taoism's non-action thought
reminds us that in the fast-paced modern life, we should learn to
conform to nature and keep inner peace. Mohism's concept of universal
love and non-aggression is even more of an appeal for world peace and
cooperation. Traditional Chinese arts are also treasures of Chinese
culture. Art forms such as calligraphy, painting, music, and dance have
conquered the world with their unique charm. Calligraphy, using the
tools of brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, expresses the author's
emotions and artistic conceptions through changes in the thickness,
density, and weight of lines. Painting takes landscapes, flowers and
birds, figures and so on as themes and outlines the beauty of nature and
the vicissitudes of life with brush and ink. Music and dance convey
people's joys, sorrows, and emotions with their beautiful melodies and
moving dance postures. These traditional arts are not only an aesthetic
enjoyment but also a nourishment for the soul. Chinese folk customs
are also an important part of Chinese culture. Traditional festivals
such as the Spring Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Dragon
Boat Festival carry people's yearning and blessings for a better life.
Activities such as family reunions during the Spring Festival, moon
appreciation during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and dragon boat races
during the Dragon Boat Festival not only enrich people's lives but also
strengthen the national cohesion. In addition, Chinese food culture,
clothing culture and so on also have their own characteristics,
reflecting the Chinese people's wisdom in life and aesthetic taste. In
today's era of globalization, Chinese culture is moving towards the
world with its unique charm. More and more foreigners have begun to
learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture. Traditional Chinese arts,
literary works and so on have also been widely spread around the world.
This not only helps to promote exchanges and integrations among
different cultures but also makes contributions to the development of
world culture. However, we should also clearly realize that while
inheriting and promoting Chinese culture, we should also continuously
innovate and develop. With the changes of the times and the progress of
society, Chinese culture also needs to keep pace with the times,
integrate new elements and concepts to meet the needs of modern society.
Only in this way can Chinese culture maintain its unique charm and
vitality in the forest of world cultures. After reading "An
Introduction to Chinese Culture", I deeply feel proud and have a
strong sense of responsibility. As a member of the Chinese nation, we
have the responsibility to inherit and promote Chinese culture so that
the world can better understand China. At the same time, we should also
learn from and draw on the outstanding achievements of other cultures
with an open mind and continuously enrich and develop Chinese culture. I
believe that with our joint efforts, Chinese culture will surely shine
with even more brilliant luster.
