Review of Frankenstein
用户829129
The story begins with Captain Robert Walton's letters to his sister,
detailing his arctic expedition. There, he encounters Victor
Frankenstein, a scientist on the brink of death. Frankenstein shares his
tragic tale with Walton, forming the heart of the narrative. Victor
Frankenstein, a brilliant and ambitious scientist, becomes obsessed with
the idea of creating life. He spends years secretly working in his
laboratory, piecing together a creature from body parts he has collected
from graveyards and charnel houses. When he finally brings his creation
to life, he is horrified by its appearance and immediately abandons it.
The creature, although initially innocent and curious, is quickly
rejected by society due to its monstrous appearance. It is forced to
live in isolation, learning to fend for itself and observing human
behavior from afar. As it becomes more aware of its own existence and
the rejection it faces, the creature's anger and resentment grow,
leading it to seek revenge against its creator. The creature demands
that Frankenstein create a female companion for it, promising to leave
humanity alone if he does so. Frankenstein initially agrees, but as he
nears the completion of the female creature, he has second thoughts and
destroys his work. Enraged, the creature vows to make Frankenstein
suffer, and it proceeds to kill everyone Frankenstein loves, including
his younger brother, his best friend, and his bride on their wedding
night. Frankenstein, consumed by guilt and a desire for revenge,
pursues the creature across the globe, determined to destroy it. The
chase leads them both to the Arctic, where Frankenstein finally
collapses from exhaustion and exposure. Walton finds Frankenstein and
listens to his story before he dies. The creature, who has followed
Frankenstein to the ship, appears briefly to lament the destruction it
has caused and then disappears into the ice, presumably to end its own life.
