A Bell of Warning for Technology and Humanity - Thoughts on Reading
"Frankenstein" "Frankenstein" is not merely a
simple science fiction horror novel; it is more like a mirror, clearly
reflecting the complex issues of human society. In the book, Dr.
Frankenstein, driven by his insane obsession with science, creates
artificial life. However, after the monster is born, he abandons it out
of fear, eventually leading to a series of tragedies. This plot serves
as a powerful warning to modern society. Nowadays, technological
progress is advancing at an unprecedented pace, from the rapid
development of gene editing technology to artificial intelligence. Each
breakthrough greatly alters our lives. But we must be aware that
technology is a double-edged sword. If we blindly pursue the rapid
development of technology without considering it within the framework of
ethics and morality, we will fall into a dangerous situation. If gene
editing technology is abused, breaking the natural genetic diversity; if
the development of artificial intelligence gets out of control and
escapes human control, then technology will no longer be a tool to
benefit humanity but will become the source of disasters, just like the
monster created by Dr. Frankenstein in the book, bringing endless pain
and destruction to humanity. Therefore, on the path of exploring
technology, we must let humanity and morality be the solid guide,
ensuring that technological development truly serves the long-term
interests of humanity.
