A Profound Exploration
WERTHER
Another important aspect of Wordsworth's poetry is his exploration of
the relationship between humans and nature. He believed that humans were
an integral part of the natural world, and that our well-being was
closely linked to the health and vitality of the environment. In his
poem "The World Is Too Much with Us," Wordsworth laments the
alienation and disconnection that he sees in modern society, arguing
that we have lost touch with the natural world and the simple pleasures
of life. He writes,"The world is too much with us; late and soon,/
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:/ Little we see in Nature
that is ours;/ We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!"
