Reflection

Reading Key Terms in Chinese Culture is like embarking on a captivating journey through time and space. This remarkable work presents the essence of Chinese culture in English, allowing me to deeply appreciate the profoundness and vastness of Chinese culture and feel the wisdom and spiritual core of the Chinese nation embedded within these terms.​

Each term in the book is a shining pearl of Chinese culture. "Ren" (benevolence), the core of Confucian thought, embodies the ethical principle of mutual care and respect among people. It transcends simple emotional expressions and becomes a universal moral pursuit. "Dao" (the Way) contains profound explorations of the laws of the universe and the philosophy of life. Taoists use "Dao" to explain the origin and development of all things, demonstrating the unique thinking of ancient Chinese people about the essence of the world. These terms are not isolated but are intertwined, jointly constructing the vast system of Chinese culture.​

Through reading, I have come to realize that the key terms of Chinese culture possess strong vitality and heritage value. From ancient classics to modern society, they are constantly given new connotations and have always been an important pillar of the Chinese national spirit. In the context of globalization, these terms have become a window to showcase Chinese culture to the world. Their interpretation in English breaks down language barriers, enabling foreign friends to understand and appreciate the charm of Chinese culture, thus promoting exchanges and integration among different cultures.​

Moreover, this book has also made me reflect on current cultural dissemination. In an era of multicultural collisions, we have the responsibility and obligation to spread these precious cultural terms. We should not only learn and master the meanings of these terms but also think about how to vividly and accurately tell the story of Chinese culture to the world.​
