Who is the toy?

After reading the story for the first time, to be honest, I didn't understand what it was talking.

   Rosemary was a not very beautiful woman. Her husband was a wealthy man. Rosemary liked buy many things, and every businessman liked to serve her. One day, she went to an antique store. She found a very beautiful little box but expensive. Outside the store, she met a poor young woman. The poor young girl asked money for a cup of tea. But in order to satisfy her own curiosity psychology, Rosemary took young girl to her home. And Rosemary entertained the poor woman called Smith. Rosemary's husband went back home and he was unhappy with Smith. After he praising the poor woman, Rosemary felt her position was threatened. Then she drove away the poor woman and asked her husband if she was beautiful.

   After reading it again, I think Rosemary and Smith are both wretched. Rosemary thought Smith was her toy, but she was also the toy of her husband. This article irony patriarchal society women's low status. Women spend many money to make themselves beautiful in order to make men happy. This is an abnormal psychology.
