Book Review

Keep Walking in Sunshine is a touching collection of inspirational
essays filled with warmth and positive energy. Different from those
complicated literary works with dramatic plots, this book focuses on
trivial moments in daily life, small encounters and quiet inner
feelings. Every story and paragraph comes from ordinary life, plain but
sincere, simple yet thought-provoking. Reading through the whole book,
I can always feel soft sunshine flowing between lines. The author
records little happy moments, touches from strangers, struggles in
growth and insights after experiencing difficulties. It tells us that
life is not always smooth sailing; we will face confusion, frustration,
tiredness and helplessness now and then. However, brightness never
disappears completely. Sunshine exists not only in fine weather, but
also inside our hearts. No matter what hardships we meet, we should keep
a hopeful mind, refuse to give up easily and move forward steadily.
The language of the book is fresh and elegant, neither too gorgeous nor
too plain. Many sentences are gentle and healing, able to calm down
anxious moods instantly. When I feel stressed, upset or lost, picking up
this book to read a few pages can clear my messy thoughts and regain
peace and courage. It does not preach empty big truths, but lets readers
understand life slowly through subtle details. Besides its spiritual
value, the book adopts Chinese-English bilingual writing style. The
English expressions are natural, authentic and easy to understand,
suitable for students to read and learn. While gaining spiritual
comfort, we can learn beautiful sentence structures, accumulate good
phrases and improve our reading and writing skills imperceptibly. It
combines spiritual nourishment with language learning perfectly. Life
is a long journey. We cannot avoid wind and rain, but we can choose our
attitude. This book teaches us to discover beauty around us, keep
kindness in heart, hold hope firmly and keep walking toward sunshine all
the time. It is a worthwhile book to read repeatedly and keep beside us
for lifelong encouragement.
