Vanity Fair
宛如
After reading Vanity Fair, I was deeply shocked by the cold and vain
upper-class society in 19th-century Britain. The story tells of two
girls: Becky Sharp tries every means to climb the social ladder for
wealth and status, while Amelia Sedley lives a simple and honest life.
The book sharply satirizes people’s greed and hypocrisy. Becky chases
fame and money all her life, yet she never gets real happiness. It
teaches me that wealth and social position are only empty bubbles. True
joy comes from kindness and peace of mind. This simplified version is
easy to understand, and the sharp social criticism makes me reflect on
what is truly valuable in life.
