Pride and Prejudice

Book Review: Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice, written by the
famous British writer Jane Austen, is one of the most timeless
masterpieces in English literature. Published in 1813, the novel focuses
on love, marriage, social class and personal growth with delicate and
witty writing styles. The story mainly describes the relationship
between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. At first, Darcy’s pride makes
him look cold and arrogant, while Elizabeth holds deep prejudice against
him because of misunderstandings and superficial judgments. Both of them
are trapped in their own weaknesses and make wrong decisions based on
first impressions. As the plot develops, they gradually recognize
their own flaws. Darcy learns to be humble and considerate, and
Elizabeth abandons her prejudice and learns to see people truly. Their
growth finally leads to sincere and equal love. In my opinion, this
novel is far more than a romantic story. It teaches readers that we
should never judge others hastily. True love is based on mutual respect,
personality and virtue, rather than social status or wealth. Even after
hundreds of years, the themes of the book still have great realistic
significance for modern people.
