李童茜

Leoties' Poison (Act 4)

李童茜

And for that purpose I'll anoint my sword.

I bought an unction of a mountebank,

So mortal that, but dip a knife in it,

Where it draws blood no cataplasm so rare,

Collected from all simples that have virtue

Under the moon, can save the thing from death

This is but scratch'd withal. I'll touch my point

With this contagion, that, if I gall him slightly,

It may be death.

This description of a virulent weapon is quoted from Leoties' word in the conversation between him and the King right before the combat of revenge. It shows what would happened when this poison was put into use. By exaggerating this result may impress the readers that what a tense inside the drama is. And by stressing such, the audience could rise their heart rate to the rhythm of the climax of the whole drama! Exciting!
