Friendship beyond Classes
Around the world in 80 days is absolutely an fantstic book! The author, Mr.Jules Verne, mapped out a vast and marvelous world, inviting us to take the exciting adventure with Mr.Fogg, the serious and erudite English gentelman and Passepartout ,his brave and loyal valet.
To my surprise, this breathtaking journey was not in the hero’s own arrangement but due to an accident,so to speak,it was a go-at-anytime journey. Mr.Fogg and his friends laid a wager of twenty thousand pounds on whether he was able to travel around the world in 80days. Bingo! The exciting adeventure was launched upon ,uncovering a kaleidoscope of worldwide customs! However, during the journey, Mr.Fogg was mistaken for a bugglar who had stolen an incredible sum of money, which made the Dectective Fix followed him up tightly and spared no effort to break his plan. After overcoming a series of ostscles and solving a chian of crisis during sailing to Bomboy, riding an elephant to Calcutta, voyaging to Hongkong, taking the pilot-boat-NO.43 to Shanghai, traveling by train and sledge across America, Mr.Fogg and Passepartout ulmately returned to London and won the bet. What’ s more, Mr.Fogg married Aouda, a graceful Indian lady with beautiful eyes,’clear as sacred lakes of Himalaya’,rescued by the brave gentelman and his servant in Calcutta.
Having finished reading the book, the profound courage and friendship of the heroes moved me a lot.As for Mr.Fogg, he is a serious gentleman with a poker-face who’s always doing acting precisely at precise time.He is so calm that he is the last person to show his mood,no matter happiness or sorrow. It seems that Mr.Fogg, the decent gentleman, is exactly an lively machine without feeling powered by an accurate gear. When he decided to go into the heart of the vast snowfield to rescue Passepartout, bracing himself for the the crule Indian gangster at the risk of losing the wager of two thousand pounds or even his life, my impression of his machine hull vanished and his internal golden heart moved me a lot.He did’t ignore Passepartout’s life only for he is his servant, anther kind of person who is inferior to him, Mr.Fogg is not a cold-blooded gentleman who only cares about himself and the schedule but a real fearless knight in the flesh.
As for Passepartout, though he is a vulgar guy with a lack of extensive konwledge insisting that the sun goes according to his watch,he is denfinetely a honest fellow. At the moment he woke up from the unconcsiousness of opium-poisoned whiskey given by Dectetive Fix, the first concern rushed into his mind was the safety of Mr.Fogg. Threatened by Detective, though his was frightened to tear,he never give in to betray his master who saved his life.
There is a predestinated gap between these two man ,but their profound and faithful friendship have already cover the gap.
