Brief summary:

Briefly spaeking,the theme of this novel is to educate grown-ups,criticize the bad personalities buried beneath their hearts and wish to call back an innocent and pure mental world.The story is aimed to guide our human beings to reflect ourselves.Differ from the common fable,this fable is writen to adults,rather than children.

About the little:

As is obvious seen by us all,this long fairy tale is named after the leading character of the book,the little prince.For the whole story is unfolded with the little prince's journey around the universe as clue.Using "the little prince"as the title,will undeniable indicate our readers about the main content this book is going to express,let us guess out that maybe this is a story told about a handsome prince living in the noble castle and some romantic adventures taking place in the plot.This is eventually arouse our readers'interests.Only after we begin our reading can we realize that this little prince has a great difference to the imagined one in our mind.This transformatin in our mental notation will guide us to the depth of the author's think,that is also to say,we wil come closer to the subject of the story.

About the author:

 Antoine de Saint-Exupery is a Frenchman,he is  known as a writer,but he is a pilot at the sametime.These two careers influence each other greatly.The abundent experiences of his flights bring lots of inspirations to his writing.Inevitable,many compositions are about the aviation.In addition to flight, using writing to explore the depths of the soul of loneliness is another love of his for life. Representative works includes: novel 'the southern air mail',the prose 'the people of the earth' ,etc. 

Summary of the content

The story is unfolded taking the experience of the little prince's journey around many planets as clue.The little prince has gone to six planets before he finally came to the earth and went back home.During the journeys in the former six planets,he encounted with a great number of strange creatures including a drunkard,a kind,a merchant ,a rose,a fox and so on. What he has come across with supplies him with enumous confusions and sadnesses which is composed with desire,vanity,conceit and contradication from the nowadays society. Acutally,these were al l thought-provoking.For everyone of us should reflect ourselves,as a grown-ups,did you show the exact ugly and disgusting images the the prince think of?Did you just the man always keep the sentence'I am busy with some important thing now'all the time by mouth.

Analysis of text 

The writer's style: simply but not easy.

From my point of view,'simply but not easy' was perfectly suitable for the discription of the writer's style,that is to say,the writer didn't use any logical and complex items to show us the principle or the philosophy from life,instead,refer to some short stories,from a child'view,to reflect the adults'world.This principle always turn out to be very profound,always be something patented but neglected by us in most cases.Some readers may protest that what the writer say was all virtual,we cannot see a foxes begging for a person to tame him,we can not believe in the love between the prince and a rose,what we can sure about is the writer is stupid and tell us a lengthy story without any logic.If you are somewhat sharing the same idea with this,it is really a pity of you,for your heart is exectly become a adult,the innocence and original purity have faded away.Your mind now is cramed into a lot of garbages,consisted of vanity,hypocrisy and other veil faith,which was twisted by the outside world.

Then the introductions and symbolizations of each characteristics will be given as follows:

The little prince

The little prince, the novel is named after him, is a mysterious and lovely children. He lives in is known as B - 612 small planet, is the only residents of the small planet. The little prince leave his planet travel and love roses began universe, finally came to the earth. In the Sahara desert, the little prince in the novel the narrator of the pilot, and he became good friends. The little prince in the novel is a symbol of hope, love, innocence and buried in every one of us heart childlike LingHui. Although the little prince met a lot of people on the trip, but he never stop thinking about roses.

The fox

The little prince saw the fox in the desert. Clever fox asked the little prince tamed him, though the fox in the more knowledge, he made the little prince to understand what is the essence of life. The fox told the little prince's secret is: to see with your heart to see clearly. Is the separation of him more missing his roses; Love is responsibility.

The rose

A flower, like to buy get amorous feelings of her ego and naive can't let the little prince understand her love for him, but he can't stand away from home. In separate days, she always appear in the little prince's thoughts and hearts.

The snake

The snake is  the first character the little prince come to in the earth; And he eventually bite the little prince, sent the prince back to heaven. Snake told I was lonely on earth, the little prince made the little prince think snakes are very weak. But the snake told the little prince himself holds the mystery of life. Also told the little prince, he's enigmatic talk, because he knows all. In the book, the snake is an absolute authority, an eternal mystery, let a person remember the bible story: Adam and eve was lured by the snake ate the forbidden fruit, and was expelled from the garden of Eden.

Turkish astronomer

The merchant

Light person

A symbol of the modern world sometimes because of too much emphasis on province most shortcut. The little prince said he would rather spend the time leisurely to go find a well.

Only three petal desert flower

The rose garden

Organizational method :metaphor and comparision

Comparision is showed by the little prince's and the other adults's thoughts.The most patent evident is that the little prince is fed up with the conceited man's odd demand for admiration,he begin to say to himself that 'The grown-ups are certainly very odd.'When he continue his journey,visiting a businessman who counts for numbers all the time and neglects all things around,the little prince cannot help saying'the grown-ups are certainly altogether extradinary'.And in chapter 10,the little prince visits the king,he find the king a very strange person,in order to retain the little prince,without any reasonable order,he made the little prince his ambassador,called out with a magnificent air of authority.This made little prince disgust.He was hating this kind of person,who marster a great wealth and power but lack in spiritual nutrition.From the three examples above,we can easily learn from it that the little prince's world differs totally from the groens-up's world.And this difference is substantiated by the method 'comparision'.

Metaphor is show by the charactoers in the novel.And this is what the main purpose of the author lied in.For example,the businessman who is counting stars all the time and find the little prince annonying is the reflection of the real world person who are always saying that he is occupied with something important but actual no use to ourslves or the figures you spare your time on.The drunkard was a reflection of one typical person who are always examine their own errors,intending to do something to punish themselves.But in fact,this kind of punishment is just a further degradation rather than a way for essentially changing.What's more,from my point of view,the little prince itself symbolize the rare existence of person with innocent and pure hearts.

Evaluation of the Text:

As far as I am concerned,the shining point in this novel lies in that the writer hide the reality principles of adults's world frpm the little prince's perspective.What the little prince thinks strange is actually the author cannot agree with in the real world,what the little prince finds moving is exactly what the author cannot help crying.The little prince is the representive of the writer,or in a broader sense,the representive of one group of poeple,who always seems to be out of match with the reality but still keep wearing the innocence and purity suits.This symbolization is a great innovation actually.

But there are still something that I can not agree with author.The novel says that love is taming,this way of explaination actually is not proper.The foxes begged for the little prince to tame him and told he to take the responsiblity for everything he has tamed.He takes it for granted that the beloved one should be the tamed one.But this is what I can not agree with.When we love a person,we should not take with the purpose to tame,instead,we should established the equel status,both sides should respect each other and gain some knowledge through  

the people you like.

The purpose of this story is to educate the adults who is gradualy losing the most appreciating characteristics which was born with us from the beginning.It alarms the readers with some precise phylosoph,such as,'the most essential things always turn out invisible and it is only with the heart that one can see rightly.''Men have forgotten this truth. But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose…'.This story also tells us how to love,love ourselves and love what is deserved our love.This is gained by the love between the little prince and the only flower in his planet.At first,it was because the conflict that the little prince decides tio leave,but at last,after the little prince knows the meaning of love,come to complete comprehension of love,that is,no matter what beautiful flowers are in the garden,I would be persisitent to the only one from my deepest of heart.That is the true essence of love, he finally can not wait but to return to see her.The little prince can do anything

to satisfy the rose's demand,even though some of them were not reasonable and just was the temperament of the rose.This sacrisfy is such moving,I was touched by them.

The story is a fable though,it served for the adults in fact.All in all,this is a excellent story,not only in the discription characteristic of a kid,but also in the philosophical saying.So I sincercly recommend this book to all people,especially one ones who lost the original heart and got lost halfway.You can eventually gain something useful,I am sure for that.
