Why not woman‘s England?
To be honest, as a woman, especially a so called feminist, it is beyond doubt that , by and large, I disapprove of the descriptions of the writer, D. H. Lawrence. Regardless of the fact that the responsibility of men plays an important role as for the hole society and the hole country, which I have to admit, as far as I am concerned, the same emphasis should be attached to that of women. Compared to this, however, the writer apparently speak too highly of contributions that thanks to men, while ignored the dignity and honor of women. To make it more persuasive, let me lift some sentence from the book as follows.
“It will be a man’s country the instant there are men in it. ”
“ If England is not a man’s country, it isn’t a woman’s country either. That’s obvious. Women didn’t make England. And women don’t run England today, in spite of the fact that nine-tenths of the voices on the telephone are female voices.”
Thus, when it comes to my opinion towards this book, although I understand that the writer just want to appeal men to take more responsibility of the prosperity of England, I could never stand the mean he express it.
