I have learned that in Nortern China (mostly north to the Yellow River), the walls are built thicker, which is advantageous to keeping the house warm in winter while cool in summer.

I'm not a cuss surprised by the fact that Buddhist culture has been overlooked in the past, now that the Orthodox religion is Taoism. But every existing culture has its process of Sinicization, and Buddhism is not the exception. We should no longer simply treat it as "foreign" culture, and try to make it be in the interest of development of our origin culture.

War is always the disappointing factor that crushes precious cultural treasure easily. Not only the invasive wars like anti-Japanese war damage the treasure of mankind, but civil war like the war that destroy E'pang Palace do that as well.

From the illustrations we can see that the stone figures of the Han Dynasty are flexible and of superb craftsmanship, while those of the tomb of Emperor Wu' father are stiff and rigid. To some degree it reflects the vicissitudes of ancient Chinese aesthetic standards.
