【These old people remembered nothing outside the Opera. They had lived there for years without number. Past managements had forgotten them; palace revolutions had taken no notice of them; the history of France had run its course unknown to them; and nobody recollected their existence.】
This is a great paragraph of describing Mr.Nobody in a city. They spend their life making a living but act as a insignificant role in the fast-changing society. However, actually, the world can't work without them. Highflyers enjoy the opera with a great delight and they will never notice who has paid much effort for building the theater where themselves siitting in. They being unnoticed as a Mr.Nobody, I believe that they still can feel delight from seemingly poor life.
What puzzles me is the definition of Mr.Nobody because when I think deeply about this special group of social members, I surprisingly find out that a great fraction of us are both Mr. Nobody. Each of us is heading for death and in this journey, we grow up, get a job, get married, have some babies, watch our babies to have their own babies and die in the end. When each of these Mr. Nobody dies, our world won't change a little bit.
To think positively, even we mean nothing to the world, we do mean something to our families and friends. It is good to know I am missed and loved by someone in the world. Still, we can create some special value for them, for the little world of our own.
