a cup of charity

 I have to admit that it is not objective for me to say that Rosemary, the heroine of the book which named “a cup of tea”， is not kind. However， her kindness and her charity can only full a cup. Yes，the poor girl only asked for a cup of tea， but Rosemary took her home，provided her with stove and food，even talked just like a sister...... All of this sounds so moving！ Later on， on the contrary，when her husband said that the poor girl was cute and beautiful，Rosemary immediately sent the poor girl away， regardless the fact that she had invited her to have dinner together. What is worse， after the farce of her “charity” rashly finished， the novel ended in Rosemary’s question towards her husband：“Am I beautiful？”

 Her “charity” in fact is a kind of flaunt， she just in order to enjoy the poor girl’s misfortune. Ridiculously， she was deeply moved by herself.
