In the traditional Chinese society, the concept of "family" is a quite important. In the long Chinese history ,It plays a vital part in promising family continuation and the role to strengthen the link of family members. Actually,"Family" is an extensive "home". The size of "home" depends on two opposing power. A force wants to combine the family members together, while the other just wants to disperse. Therefore,for the different purpose,this two different powers will have struggles with each other and the result will finally deicide the size and the development of the family.

 In the village, marriage is a very formal and strict. People here will obey their parents’ suggestions to decide their marriages according to the tradition.So there is no marriage proposal.Frequently,children have been set the marriage by the parents when they are young, which means that there is no freedom of marriage. In addition, the cousin marriage between phenomenon is very common in order to be doubly related. It is because that the main function of marriage here is to continue and promote the development of the family. However,in these marriage, the status is not equal on both sides. Family members have a lot of requirement to the women and attaches great importance to the problem of fertility.The women who gave birth to a girl would be looked down on by people in the village.For the purpose of protecting reputation the family,the grandparents may ask the man to break the marriage with the woman.Then,the man will hava a new wife who is used to give birth to a boy.Again and again,the tradition leads to the serious problem of the population.

 Of course, property inheritance is also a very important problem. In a rural family, the main property is land which is inherited by the direct man in the family. If there is no direct man, the land will be inherited by elder man members in the family. Of course successor has the obligation of supporting the elderly. Thus we can see that the man is gave a high status and rights, it is a common social problems in the long history. To our delight, with the development of economy and the society , women's independence becomes more and more strong, which has solved these problems significantly.
