Here, Locke put forward the basis of society: liberty and equality. Though he didn't express that directly, he listed Adam's opinions and opposed to those opinions. In this method, it made a strong and clear contrast to the old, decayed, traditional attitudes toward the relationship among human society. As a pioneer of enlightenment, as well as a heir of Renaissance, he inherited the thoughts of liberty and equality. Further more, he utilized these basic principles into constructing the human society and developed a significant theory of building an idealistic society. His opinions and theories are of great importance for the decedents of enlightenment, such as Rousseau and Montesquieu. I have read Rousseau's " The Social Contract", I expect to find the similarities and differences between the two great philosophers.
