Tess's Tragedy
Muggle
According to Schopenhauer, personality is the driving force behind the choices we make in life, and to a large extent determines our destiny.
In the intrinsic cause of Tess's tragedy, its fundamental weakness is a decisive factor. This weakness had its source, too, for Tess was born in an environment in which resistance was scarce before her eyes.

RoharI agree with you but that weakness can be said to be her beauty in a certain way. If Jane Eyre's beauty lies in her stubbornness, then Tess's beauty must lie in pure nature. Her purity is like the blue sky, although sometimes it is covered by dark clouds, but when the clouds disperse, the most pure and transparent in the world is still the blue sky.
