It is upbringing that plays a part in the estrangement and reconciliation between Darcy and Elizabeth, and it is upbringing that overcomes the gulf between them, including the disparity of property and status. The "upbringing" is not superclass, but the capitalist marriage freedom of the class, which in the final analysis is a sign of social identity.
