Austin’s Pride and Prejudice is a romantic and realistic love story. It was, as she put it, a fine carving on two inches of ivory, a masterpiece of Austin. This novel about marriage is one of the author’s most popular works and one of her own. The work vividly reflects the conservative and isolated English country life and social conditions from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century.
