Some people think that 'the sorrows of young werther ' is Goethe's cathartic expression for his love that failed to come to an end. What do you think?

  The plot of the novel is largely autobiographical: while Goethe was an intern at the Imperial Supreme Court in Wetzlar, he met and fell in love with the young Charlotte Buff. But Charlotte was engaged to Johann Christian Kestner, a legal worker. To Charlotte's father, Kestner was clearly more stable and reliable than the young Goethe, with his artistic ambitions; Even then Goethe wanted to be an artist more than a lawyer. Goethe left Charlotte in a hurry. Later, he met Maximiliana von La Roche, the daughter of one of his top advisers. Goethe fused the impression made on him by the two women into the image of Lotte. According to Goethe himself, he wrote the epistolary novel over a period of four weeks to counteract the pain of love and free himself from suicidal thoughts.
