Jane Eyre
许晓荷
From my perspective, Jane Eyre is an idealized character. She is staunch, self-reliant, not vain, and persistent in love, these qualities make her so special. At the same time, when describing Jane Eyre, the author also portrays her inferiority but pretentious side, making this character vivid and real. But the ending of the story itself is a compromise. Please imagine, if Rochester did not encounter the fire in the end, he would still follow his madness wife live together. Then, how will Jane Eyre choose her own life path? If she chooses to go to India, it will be an emotional tragedy; if she decides to go back to Rochester, it will be a moral tragedy. The fire broke that predicament, allowing Jane Eyre and Rochester to avoid facing these problems and end up together. So the role of Jane Eyre is still ideal.
