Jacqueline.CBertha's image alludes to European colonists and ruled indigenous peoples who conquered overseas. Jane Eyre's brave, rebellious, enterprising, and even a little bit of pride is actually a reflection of the image of European colonialists in the 18th and 19th centuries; and Bertha's bad, disturbing image in the original book: crazy, vulgar, barbaric, is the appearance of the indigenous people in the eyes of the colonists at that time.
