Nature and man are not a relationship of conquering and being conquered

The old man makes a living by fishing, and the sea also gives the old man what he needs to survive. Just as human beings can obtain from nature all the goods they need and benefit themselves. The old man fights the wind and waves, big fish, and sharks in the sea, representing that human beings want to realize themselves from victory over nature. However, in the process, the old man did not forget that it was the dedication of the sea to him and the respect and awe he deserved from nature. As an old fisherman, he is a natural enemy with the fish in the sea. Even if he exhausts all means, the old man must defeat the fish, put them in his own net, and become food in his belly. However, the old man does not simply regard fish as his opponent, he will regard these fish as his "friends" and "brothers". When he thinks about killing these fish, he has mixed feelings, and he even feels that humans are not worthy of eating these fish. In the process of fighting with the big fish, the old man always regarded the other party as an opponent. Human beings are "masters" and nature is "guests", as if this has been a tradition since ancient times. However, in "The Old Man and the Sea", what we see is awe and respect for nature, which contains the old man Santiago and the author Hemingway's respect for nature and life. From the point of view of the focus on ecological civilization, "The Old Man and the Sea" has to be said to be a great work with advanced nature.
