《老人与海》中大马林鱼——美好理想的象征

​在小说中,大马林鱼是光荣的象征。从现实出发,一个年老体衰的渔夫能捕获到如此硕大无比的大马林鱼,本身就是一件令人荣光的事情。但老渔夫对鱼确是无比的喜爱和崇尚,不但没有丝毫的敌意,反而将对手当成朋友和兄弟看待。所以在整个与大马林鱼搏斗的过程中,他至始至终都深怀喜爱和敬佩之情,甚至在最终战胜对手时,他也不免为对手扼腕叹息。因此,在整部小说中,大马林鱼是无上光荣的象征。纵观整部小说,大马林鱼的作用非常重要,没有大马林鱼的穿针引线,小说的象征意义将不完整。在经历漫长的84天等待之后,大马林鱼终于出现了,既满足了老人的愿望,同时也是给老人漫长等待的一个回报。老人凭借坚强的毅力,终于战胜了年轻气盛的大马林鱼。在小说的寓意和老人的心中,大马林鱼一直象征着一种理想的事物,一种美好的目标和追求。预示着在人类漫长的旅途中,会经历种种的磨难和痛苦,但只要人们怀有坚定的信念,依靠顽强的毅力和不懈的追求,最终一定会战胜艰难困苦,创造生活的奇迹。

  I totally agree with you. Some people may say that the old fisherman's struggle is meaningless. He fought alone for three days and nights, and finally got a skeleton of a big marlin. Besides proving that he once caught such a big fish and the fishermen's unnecessary wonder, what did he get? Nothing. Real life left him nothing but poverty and loneliness. However, the reason why people are human is that we are tirelessly pursuing a certain spiritual power while pursuing material enjoyment. Even though there are many difficulties and failures, the old fisherman can still keep his original intention in mind, fight to the end and never give up for his past goals and ideals. This kind of spiritual strength of fighting and tenacious struggle is the great thing about the old fisherman. So I think that although he failed in real life, he is a winner in spirit and morality.
