The Time Machine was first published in 1894 as a serial under the name The Time Traveller in the National Observer. It was brought out as a book the next year under its current name and sold more than six thousand copies in a few months. H. G. Wells was just twenty-seven years old when the story, which came to be called a "scientific romance," was published. Wells's friend, William Henley, edited the National Observer, and Wells became part of a group of writers called "Henley's young men." The novel's appeal lies in its attempt to fathom what will become of human beings in the distant future. By making the central character of his story a time traveler who can transport himself back and forth in time with the aid of a machine he invented, Wells is able to explore many of the themes that obsessed him, including class inequality, evolution, and the relationship between science and society. In describing the future world of the effete Eloi and the cannibalistic Morlocks and the world beyond that in which all semblance of human life has been erased, Wells illustrates what he believes may very well be the fate of humanity. The novel's enduring popularity is evident in the three films adapted from the novel and the scores of others inspired by it.

I also benefited a lot from the chapter introducing Chinese drama. The ancient Chinese art theory that emphasizes the likeness of the spirit has resulted in the freehand concept of Chinese opera. The life on the opera stage is different from the real life. It is refining, processing, exaggerating, distorting and beautifying the real life. It is changing its shape to convey its spirit and write its meaning. For example, in the treatment of space, unlike Western dramas, Chinese opera does not use scenery and determine space according to the appearance of life. Opera generally does not need scenery, the space represented on the stage can be arbitrarily determined and freely changed through the performance of the actors. Chinese opera skillfully integrates all the essence of Chinese ancient art and literature, which is the treasure and typical representative of Chinese ancient culture and art. The Chinese who are used to watching Chinese opera may be used to this, but if you compare it with the dramas of other countries, you can see its unique national characteristics.

I'm also interested in the chapter on Chinese porcelain. Fengshan bottle of Qing Dynasty in Kangxi period was the earliest porcelain in China. It was the earliest China that arrived in Europe. It is a gift from China to Louis the great of Hungary.

It is generally believed that it originated in China, although the original porcelain can be traced back to the Shang Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty, the porcelain with high firing glaze has developed into porcelain, and the porcelain made in the Tang Dynasty is exported to the Islamic world, where this type of early porcelain is very precious, including tricolor glazed porcelain, or Sam adeshhead, a tricolor porcelain historian China, as we know today, can be found in the Sui Tang and Tang dynasties after the Tang Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty History and unique traditional art porcelain.

My favorite part is the introduction of Chinese academic culture. They used their ingenuity to write mathematical words that are now hard to understand. I admire the ancient people for their dedication to solving such complicated mathematical problems without any practical significance. While I admire their wisdom, I also see the extraordinary creativity of their ancestors and the cultural penetration wrapped in it. These will always belong to China and be part of Chinese culture. I believe this feeling is shared by every Chinese, so when we see the history, we not only have respect for our ancestors, but also feel proud of ourselves as Chinese people who have come from the Chinese culture. As we scroll through, we are surprised to find how much has disappeared. It is our duty to pass on history, and it is also our duty to pass on civilization.
