Jane Eyre's ending is comforting, she stumbles upon a large inheritance left to her by her uncle, she rejects St. John's advances and returns to Thornfield, by which time Rochester has nothing left ----- The madwoman burns down the house and falls to her death, Rochester loses an arm in the fire and goes blind.
