Jane Eyre's ending is comforting, she stumbles upon a large inheritance left to her by her uncle, she rejects St. John's advances and returns to Thornfield, by which time Rochester has nothing left ----- The madwoman burns down the house and falls to her death, Rochester loses an arm in the fire and goes blind. But Jane Eyre did not care what he looked like and lived a happy life with Rochester. Jane Eyre is not beautiful, but her challenging and resistant personality makes her charming, and she is always clear-headed, not bowing to fate.
