  12.I think the character of Luke is simple and naive. He is an Eloi, a beautiful and gentle creature that lives in harmony with nature. He represents the bright side of human nature and the ideal of utopia. However, he is also ignorant and passive, unlike most of his ancestors. He has no knowledge of history or science and has no interest in learning anything new. He is content with his easy and comfortable life, unaware of the dangers that lurk beneath the surface. He represents the risk of stagnation and extinction.
