    Having seen Mr. Gu’s "The Spirit of the Chinese", I learned the general content of the Confucian culture formed in ancient China and its social significance. To be honest, there are Confucius Institutes all over the world, which proves that Confucius and his fellows The Confucian culture does have great charm, so that it can be promoted to the whole world.
    Mr.Gu introduces some qualities of the Chinese. Among them, I saw the excellent quality of our ancient people, which is very proud of us.
    At the same time, the book also mentioned the ancient Western civilization. In contrast, the Chinese nation was indeed excellent in ancient times.When talking about the need for religion, the author mentions that people need a sense of security, which can be obtained from religious beliefs. I agree that people believe in religion and worship Jesus. It is a kind of spiritual sustenance and a spiritual necessity.          However, if we are talking about religious issues, it is not advisable to try to express the freedom of other countries with the high degree of freedom of Confucianism. In my opinion, the Confucian doctrine does not give the people too much freedom. Many of the abuses that have been abolished in modern times are many derivatives of Confucianism.
    However, I have to say that Mr.Gu has shown a conceited attitude in this book, and I cannot agree on many paragraphs.
    First of all, when we talk about the spirit of the Chinese people in the book, we compare us and the Europeans , showing our advantages, and this comparison isn’t about astronomical geography and political power. The author is carrying out ideological Contrast. However, I feel that the subtle differences in the history of the East and the West cannot directly express the advantages and disadvantages of the mind. After all, the advantages of geography and climate, will lead to different directions of thinking. The author is not convinced that the Chinese nation is in dire straits and tries to show contempt for Westernby ancient differences in thought.
    Secondly, this book talks about the chaos in the European War. The author believes that using Confucianism can calm the disaster. If Confucianism can solve all war problems, then why has the Chinese nation continued to fall into imperialist rule since the Opium War of 1840, and why has it been delayed? Why is there a change in the dynasty?In fact, we often say that the economic base determines the above structure. That is true, in the process of learning history, we find that the root causes of wars are mostly economic factors, and some are political factors. I have never heard that ideological factors directly lead to war. Of course, except for religious disputes.The author seems to want to say that "the benevolent is invincible to the world", but this is obviously not true. If it is established, then a country or a nation can completely abandon the industrial and agricultural production. Just strengthen the ideological education, then it can occupy the whole universe . 
    In general, this book tells the excellent spirit and quality of the ancient Chinese people.The above language that I wrote does not mean that I think the author should not praise the Chinese spirit. The spirit of the Chinese cannot be denied, but I don't want the Chinese spirit to be praised too much.
