《The Spirit of the Chinese people》is a book which written by gu hong ming.firstly, I want to introduce this people. He is a people who dare to speak against the times. His idea was highly respected by Westerners, because the Confucian Culture he proposed to save the West Seems to offer a vision for Westerners. But in other face, his speech have some loopholes and something not true we now see. I think we should read this book together, Although there is a protective preference for some Chinese spirits, but a true love for Chinese culture is worth learning. I also don’t agree some of what he said. Especially when it comes to women in China. It's a little too masculine today.this book makes people to reexamine Chinese and Chinese culture, The Stability of Ancient Chinese Society can be attributed to the "Religion" function of Confucianism. An interesting point of view is that Western societies rely on power and law to maintain social stability, while China relies on a sense of honor (responsibility).Chinese society has never been a religious society, and the Chinese have never had a large-scale, well-organized religious belief like Western Christianity, which is actually a very strange thing.Because a person, knowing that he is born to die, then, if he does not give him a little meaning of survival, give him a certain sense of reality and permanence, such a life will be a nothingness frightening thing. Religion is a convenient tool for solving postmortem dilemmas through the presence of personified gods: here in this life, in order to honor God, to enter the kingdom of heaven after death, and to enjoy the beauty there forever. But in Chinese culture, despite the existence of polytheism, it is not particularly serious to recognize the value of afterlife. On the contrary, we have a more unique custom of ancestor worship, and "unfilial have three, no later big" belief.Gu Hongming is confident that Chinese culture can save the world. His lengthy analysis confirms its view that polygamy is great and that the spirit of the Chinese people cannot be possessed by any country in the world. His confidence surprised me.Especially like the bottom of the sentence: "Western philosophy to explain the way of the gentleman, restore the Chinese measure and dignity." Although part of the book talks about courtiers, women's three from four virtues, I can not fully accept my education, but there are some of the truth I am acquiesced. As for the lack of religion in China, Sir has made a good explanation and believes in Confucius' doctrine, that is, the best religion in China, except that our Confucianism is not the "religion" induced by Western civilization. But Confucius has been incorporated into the genes and blood of the Chinese people, and has ensured the inheritance and splendor of Chinese civilization for more than two thousand years.
