Going and staying (消逝与停留) --哈代

The moving sun-shapes on the stray, 浪花上的太阳灵动、跳跃，

The sparkles where the brook was flowing, 粼光闪闪，也在流动的小溪。

Pink faces, plightings , moonlit May, 粉颊，盟誓，月色朦胧的五月，

These were the things we wished would stay; 我们希求这些能停留、不灭

But they were going. 然而，它们却在消逝......

Seasons of blankness as of snow, 空虚苍白季岁，同如飞雪，

The silent bleed of a world decaying, 默默流血，世间正被蚕食。

The moan of multitudes in woe, 悲恸的大众哀吟不绝，

These were the things we wished would go; 赶快离去，我们希望这些 ，

But they were staying. 然而，它们始终停滞

Then we looked closelier at Time , 之后，我们凑近观察“时间”，

And saw his ghostly arms revolving 发觉可怖的手臂转动不歇。

To sweep off woeful things with prime, 正以韶华驱扫悲哀、忧怜，

Things sinister with things sublime 但那崇高壮丽，邪恶迷奸，

Alike dissolving. 却，都在消解......
